The Hudson School District has many standing committees set by district policy or created by the Hudson School Board. Committee membership varies based on the committee.

District Committees

Capital Improvement Committee

The Capital Improvement Committee oversees planning and funding for major facility projects, such as school construction, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades. The committee evaluates district needs, prioritizes projects, and ensures proper budgeting and compliance with regulations. Included in the committee are district administration, two school board representatives, and a community member.

Communications Committee

Oversees communication between the district, parents, staff, students, and the community. Responsible for reviewing current communication methods and identifying additional methods for transparent communication throughout the school district. Included in the committee are a community member, staff from the district, and a school board representative.

Retention and Recruitment Committee

Newly formed in the spring of 2025, the Retention and Recruitment Committee is responsible for developing strategies to improve district recruitment and retention efforts. The committee will identify ways to reduce turnover, enhance workplace conditions, and attract and retain teachers and staff. Included in the committee are staff from the district and a school board representative. 

Policy Committee

The Policy Committee develops, and updates district policies to ensure they align with legal requirements, educational goals, and community needs. The committee recommends policy changes to the full board, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Members of the committee include district administration and two school board members.

Strategic Planning Steering Committee

The Strategic Planning Committee oversees the development of the School District’s strategic plan. The committee also ensures alignment with the district’s mission, vision, and goals while monitoring progress and recommending adjustments as needed. District administrators, teachers, staff, parents, community members, and two school board members are included on the committee.

Teacher Grant and Incentives Fund Committee

Part of the collectively bargained agreement with the Hudson Federation of Teachers, this committee reviews proposals, approves, and awards grants for staff to do additional work. Project proposals include work that is outside of their normal day/job description, goes above and beyond, and has larger utility for staff in the district or helps fulfill a district goal. The committee oversees review of project proposals and the allocation of the grants awarded. Included in the committee are school board representatives, district administration, and teachers.

Wellness Committee

The Wellness Committee ensures compliance with wellness regulations, assesses district needs, and implements initiatives to create a healthier school environment. School board representatives, district administration, and teachers comprise the committee.

Community Committees

As part of the Hudson School Board's goal of continuous engagement with the community, school board members are assigned to several organizations outside the district.

Alvirne Trustees

The Alvirne Trustees are stewards of the remaining Hills Family Trust that established Alvirne High School in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The trustees support Alvirne High School each year by supporting special projects, including equipment and renovations to the Alvirne farm. A school board member attends Alvirne Trustee monthly meetings.

Budget Committee

The Hudson Budget Committee has nine members that are elected for three-year terms. They are responsible for preparing and presenting the town and school district budgets. One Hudson School Board member serves on the Budget Committee and there is one alternate member. Agendas and minutes are available on the Budget Committee website.

Cable Utility Committee

The committee is comprised of community members and representatives from Hudson Cable Television (HCTV). They review updates and discuss HCTV’s efforts to highlight events and activities in Hudson. Hudson Board of Selectmen

Oversees municipal operations in Hudson, sets policies, approves budgets, and appoints town officials. The Board also manages town affairs such as public safety, infrastructure, and local ordinances.
