HUDSON, N.H. – United States Senator Maggie Hassan led a conference on cybersecurity Monday morning with local officials at the Palmer Center at Alvirne High School's Barnyard Café.
Hassan, who has served New Hampshire in her current role since 2016 and was the governor of the state from 2012-2016, compiled a group of six local superintendents and information technology officials for a discussion on the emerging topic of cybersecurity. Attendees included Hudson School District’s Dr. Dan Moulis (Superintendent) and Kevin Peterson (IT Director), Hampton Superintendent Meredith Nadeau, Amherst Superintendent Michael Barry, Derry Director of Information Services/Transportation Coordinator Dr. Clifton Dancy, and Chief Information Security Officer of the New Hampshire Department of Information Technology Ken Weeks.
The session, which was closed to the public, included a discussion on PowerSchool’s recent data breach and the response taken by the company and the school districts that were represented. Hassan received input from the attendees on their experience with the situation to bring back with her when the Senate resumes meeting next week in Washington, D.C.
After the conference, Hassan fielded questions from visiting media members who represented local and statewide outlets.
