Today the Hudson Police Department and the Hudson School District held a joint press conference to announce the arrest of a bus driver formerly employed by Durham School Services, a contracted service provider.
The district was made aware of an incident on February 20 regarding one of the bus drivers that occurred on February 17. The bus in question transports students with disabilities that are five and six years old. The district contacted families of the students that were on this bus once it was made aware of the initial concern and there has been follow up communication with families. The school district immediately contacted the Hudson Police Department to conduct an investigation regarding the bus driver’s actions.
The investigation is ongoing to determine if this has happened on other dates. The Durham Bus Company has cooperated with the Hudson Police Department throughout this investigation and continues to do so.
At the press conference, Hudson Police Chief Dionne stated, “The victims in this case are among our most vulnerable. The driver’s actions are completely unacceptable, disturbing and have no justification under the law.”
The Hudson School District thanks the Hudson Police Department for their work and support in this matter, along with officials from the Department of Education. The safety of students is the district’s highest priority.
