Calendar Reminders

As a reminder, a change in à la carte food item pricing will go into effect beginning Monday throughout the district. Included below is the full message sent out to families regarding the change.

"Hudson School District Families,

Please note that effective November 1, the cost of à la carte food items available for students will increase by $0.10 to $0.25, depending on the item. The price rise is necessary due to an increase in food and labor costs. Examples of à la carte items include chips, beverages, and cookies. The cost of a standard breakfast and lunch will remain unchanged.

Alvirne Class Act will be hosting its fall show, "I Never Saw Another Butterfly", coming up on November 14-15 at the school. Shows will be on Friday night at 6:30, followed by a matinee at 2:00 and a final performance at 6:30 on Saturday. Further information will be posted on the school's Facebook page before the first show.

With SNAP benefits currently being affected by the government shutdown, the District has compiled a local list of food resources for those families in need of assistance. Additionally, to reassure families, there will be no disruption in the U.S. Department of Agriculture provision of free and reduced-price meals for eligible students and meal reimbursements at New Hampshire schools participating in the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program.

The Alvirne Counseling Department continues to host college representatives for students to visit with. Representatives from the schools included below will be on-site in Hudson coming up next week.

The Sustainability Advisory Committee will be hosting the first of what they hope will become a fun annual event for families to look forward to on the Saturday after Halloween. Members of the Alvirne Sustainability Club are supporting this new event.

Parking will be in the upper lot of the CTE center (outside the entrance to the Café). Families will then walk down the gravel path/road with their pumpkins to where the Black Earth Carnival Truck will be parked.

Families can enjoy smashing their pumpkins by tossing them into the back of the truck while trying to hit artwork on slats of wood standing up along the top edge of the truck bed.

How often are children invited to make a mess?

Ultimately, the smashed pumpkins in the truck will be professionally composted by Black Earth. The pieces on the ground will be tilled into the soil of the Alvirne Community Garden to naturally compost over the winter.

The Alvirne Vet Science Team capped a tremendous showing for the district's representatives at the National FFA Convention with a 2nd place finish out of 45 states in the entire nation.

Earlier this week, Palmer Center at Alvirne Marketing teacher, Sarah Compagna, was honored with the Donald H. Peterson Professional Development Award by the New Hampshire Business Educators Association! It's the first time in 18 years that someone has qualified for the honor, which includes the opportunity to take a post-secondary course free of charge at the undergraduate or graduate level at one of the colleges within the association's consortium.

On Friday, students and staff from around the district put on their best Halloween costumes to celebrate the day! There were events all over the district, including the Halloween Stroll at the Early Learning Center (pictured).
