Families,
Please be advised that a solar eclipse will be passing through the area on Monday, April 8 and precautions need to be taken to prevent eye damage while viewing the eclipse. Certified ISO eclipse viewing glasses, which are widely available, are needed to directly and safely view the once-in-a-lifetime event. NASA also warns against viewing any part of the eclipse through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics; severe eye injury will result otherwise.
Eclipse glasses will be handed out to all students in pre-K (PM session only) through fifth grade as they are being dismissed in order to safely view the eclipse.
The path of the eclipse will travel over New Hampshire, with northern New Hampshire in direct line of the Path of Totality. During totality, for three minutes and 15 seconds, skies will dim and temperatures will drop as the Moon passes over the light of the sun, completely blocking its light.

The grades 8-12 session is being instructed by Alvirne High School math department chair, Shannon McCarthy.
