Families, Staff, & Community -
There has been great energy, enthusiasm, and excitement in all schools. The schools had wonderful winter concerts celebrating the students’ musical talents and the holiday season. The winter sports season is underway at Alvirne High School and at Hudson Memorial School. I look forward to attending a few of the upcoming sports events.
During the past few weeks there have been special school events, including the seventh-grade annual school trip to the Palace Theatre to watch the drama performance “A Christmas Carol,” by Charles Dickens. Students completed reading “A Christmas Carol,” in Language Arts class and this culminating school trip connected to reading this literature classic. At Nottingham West Elementary School grade 4 students shared a book that they wrote, containing stories about kindness, at the most recent School Board meeting. This connects to the new writing curriculum “Being a Writer.”
If you stop by the district office, we are displaying students’ artwork from the elementary schools. The superintendent’s office has artwork from grade 1 students. I encourage families, students, and staff to stop by to view the great artwork.
The school calendar was updated to reflect a teacher workshop day on January 23rd, which is the NH Presidential Primary. This will be a no school day for students.
In the event there is a snow day in the coming weeks, in the first instance the school district will implement a traditional snow day so you can enjoy the snow. The district will look to utilize remote learning days for future weather events. Principals will communicate the school remote learning schedule in advance.
Happy Holidays to our students, staff, families, and community.
