Community Engagement Update

The Dr. H.O. Smith School playground installation went well last week, and most of the project is now complete. I would like to thank the all the volunteers, Hudson Department of Public Works, Police Chief Dionne, and Captain Cayot, School Board members, Ethan Beals, and Mike Campbell, members of the School District maintenance department, Mr. Pratte, and Principal Labrie. The efforts of so many volunteers have made this a successful community building project. A few components of the construction project will be complete this week. I know students are excited to use the new playground.

Last Friday, I added the annual Loyalty Day/Scholastic Awards ceremony sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). The following educators were recognized for Loyalty Awards; Sue Bureau, Alvirne High School, Mary Levesque, Hills Garrison Elementary School, and Carla Griffin, Hudson Memorial School. The following Hudson Memorial School students were recognized as Patriots Pen Awards recipients; Anna Ings, Anika Peterson, and Abigail McCarthy. Congratulations to all awards recipients!

Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Update

I attended the Jazz Appreciation and Art Gallery at Alvirne High School before the April vacation. The music composition highlighted students’ musical talents with many soloists. The Art gallery had various artworks from ceramics, watercolor art, art sketching, and painting. I was impressed by the students' artistic skills.

Students have completed the State Assessment, last week students completed Advanced Placement tests, and i-Ready testing is beginning in the schools. The assessment results will be reviewed with administration to analyze the results, trends, and develop future goals and action plans.

Hiring Update

The first round of interviews for the principal position occurred last week. I want to thank the interview committee for assisting in this hiring process. This Wednesday, the semi-finalists will meet with staff at Hills Garrison Elementary School and a community Meet and Greet this Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Hills Garrison to meet the semi- finalist for the principal position.

The school district is completing the hiring for many teaching positions with many nominations proceeding this evening. The hiring process will continue this month for teaching positions across the district, however great progress has been made.

Respectfully submitted,

Daniel Moulis, Ed. D
