Arctic Weather

Earlier today I participated in a weather call with NH Homeland Security. The National Weather Service is predicting arctic cold and dangerous wind chills Friday afternoon and Saturday. Homeland Security is encouraging people to refrain from outdoor activities over the weekend due to the extreme cold.

Friday will be a regular school day. Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately for the cold weather and make any adjustments to bus pick up and drop off routines. Schools are open in the morning for student drop off. The wind is expected to pick up in the afternoon.

The Town of Hudson is opening a warming shelter at the Hudson Police Department at 1 Constitution Drive from Noon, Friday, February 3 to Noon on Sunday.

Cookies, Cocoa & Conversations

Last night we held our first “Cookies, Cocoa & Conversation” events at Alvirne High School and Hills Garrison. Thank you to the families that attended – it was great to hear from you and I look forward to the meetings at Nottingham West, Hudson Memorial and the Early Learning Center. I believe there was unanimous agreement that the cookies were delicious.

Nottingham West February 2 6:00-7:30pm
Hudson Memorial February 7 7:00-8:30pm
Early Learning Center – K & 1 February 9 6:00-7:30pm

Social Media Presentation

On Thursday, February 16, the Hudson Police Department will present “Things You Need to Know About Social Media” at Hudson Memorial. This important presentation will cover many of the pitfalls your child may encounter online. The presentation starts at 6pm and will be held in the Library Media Center.

Budget Update

District administration presented an updated budget memo at the School Board meeting on Monday evening. The items in the memo are recommendations and final decisions will be made based on the results of the Deliberative Session on February 11 and the election on March 14. Detailed information is available on the website.

Important Note: Now that Alvirne High School is a voting location, March 14 is a professional learning day for teachers and there is no school for students.

Take care this weekend.
