Budget Committee Hearing – Tonight
The Budget Committee will hold a Public Hearing for the school and town budgets tonight at the Hudson Community Center at 7pm. The hearing is an opportunity for the public to provide the budget committee feedback on the budget, for the budget committee to vote again on the school district warrant articles and to review any petitioned warrant articles submitted by Hudson residents. The agenda includes information for remote participation.

COVID Update & NH DHHS COVID Guidance
We have seen a significant number of cases in our schools since returning from the break. This week alone, 167 cases have been reported in the last three days.
As Omicron takes over as the dominant variant of COVID-19, a shift is beginning, towards tracking hospitalizations and deaths instead of individual cases. Pandemic fatigue is strong and the impact of lockdowns and remote learning have taken their toll on everyone.
Last week, the NH DHHS announced it was adopting the new, shortened CDC guidelines for quarantine and isolation. This new guidance has a significant impact on our schools and tracking information. We are currently reviewing it and will provide more information tomorrow by the end of the day.
Substitutes Needed
The district is always in need of substitute teachers, custodians and food service workers. Substitutes provide crucial support for all staff members and our students. Be a sub - apply today at sau81.org/about/careers.
Capital Improvement Plan
The district’s Capital Improvement Committee met over the last several months to analyze long-term and short-term needs in our school buildings. Comprised of district staff and school board members, the committee met with principals and town representatives to build a plan. The Capital Improvement Committee Report was reviewed and approved by the School Board in December. I’d like to thank the committee for its work – this will be an important guide over the next few years.
Free Internet Service
Xfinity is participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program, which can provide free Internet access for qualified families. Learn more about the program here.
It looks like we have a lot of weather over the next several days that might even require a bread and milk run. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t impact school.
Have a good weekend.
