Friday Weather

There is a prediction for a small accumulation of snow tomorrow, but there will be freezing rain and sleet throughout the day, along with freezing temperatures after 7am. The only determining factor for delaying or closing school tomorrow will be based on how safe it will be for buses and staff/student drivers on the roadway. Advisory information from the Hudson Department of Public Works and the New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) will be used to make that determination. Due to the high possibilities of power outages, if a closure is called in the morning, it will be a snow day with no remote learning.

CTE Open House

One of the silver linings of the pandemic was the completion of our $25 million state-of-the-art career and technical education center. Alvirne and area students love the modern feel, the amazing programs and the access to modern equipment. Programs include culinary arts, heavy duty mechanics and veterinary science.

The CTE Center will host an open house on Wednesday, February 9 at 5:30 to 7:30pm at 200 Derry Road. Student CTE ambassadors will provide tours. I encourage everyone to attend and be amazed by what the Hudson School District has to offer students.

School District Budget – Deliberative Session

The deliberative session will be held this Saturday, February 5 at 9am at the Hudson Community Center. Registered voters debate each item on the warrant, with a potential for increases or decreases. If there are proposed changes, the voters in attendance decide what appears on the ballot.

More details about the budget, including the handout and slideshow, are available on the district’s website.

COVID-19 Protocols

The number of cases in our schools and the Hudson community are on the decline and everyone is fatigued by the coronavirus.

On Monday, February 7, I will provide an update to the Hudson School Board regarding changes in protocols.

Schoology – Parent Access

On Tuesday, February 1, an email went out to parents and guardians, inviting them to join Schoology and almost 1600 have signed up already. The district website has more information on Schoology and how to access it.

Have a good weekend.

Superintendent of Schools
