Final Assessment Schedule

As a reminder, final assessments will be administered this week. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, 6/10 - Gold blocks 1 and 2
Tuesday, 6/11 - Maroon blocks 1 and 2
Wednesday, 6/12 - Gold blocks 3 and 4
Thursday, 6/13 - Maroon blocks 3 and 4
Friday, 6/14 - Remediation/Make-up (all classes)

For more detailed information on guidelines and expectations for the week, please see the link provided here.

Students who are not meeting competency expectations in any of their classes, should plan to stay for the remediation period(s) to take care of that.

Edgenuity Credit Recovery Courses

If your student is currently enrolled in an Edgenuity Credit Recovery Course, this is a great week to wrap these up; this includes students who did not complete their coursework in Winter School.

If you are unsure if your student is enrolled in a course, the best way to find out is to ask your student to log into Edgenuity through Clever. The icon for Edgenuity looks like the icon above.

Summer School Information Reminder

Summer school will begin on Wednesday, June 19. Students eligible for summer school will be notified via their report card, and an email will be sent to families on Tuesday, June 18. It is critical that students who have not passed a class(es) attend summer school, as falling behind on graduation requirements will create more stress later in their school career.

On Tuesday, June 18, more information will be provided to families whose students are eligible for summer school. In the meantime, to help families plan, please see some general information below:

Schedule: Wednesday, June 19 to Friday, June 28, weekdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Registration: Wednesday, June 19, 7:30-8:00 AM in the Steckevicz Lobby.

Attendance: Due to the shortened, intensive focus of the program, attendance for each of the eight days is mandatory; however, motivated students may accelerate progress in their courses to complete the program early. We acknowledge the importance of family trips and events in the summer, and teachers will work with students if some flexibility is needed. Work schedule, sleeping-in, or “I forgot,” however, are not valid excuses for missing school day activities.

Transportation: There is no transportation or food service provided for summer remediation.

If you have any questions or concerns about summer school expectations, please feel free to reach out to me.

This Past Week at Alvirne High School

Staff Recognitions

On Wednesday, June 5, students and faculty had the opportunity to recognize six outstanding faculty members for their contributions to the Alvirne High School community. This is always a difficult decision as Alvirne has many deserving faculty. This year's recognitions went to the following:

Paraprofessional of the Year - Mrs. Ledrew
Rookie Teachers of the Year - Ms. Wilson (English) and Mr. Rush (Special Education)
Teachers of the Year - Mrs. Beaudry (Vet Science) and Mr. Gallagan (Music)
Staff Person of the Year - Mrs. Nihan (Mental Health Counselor)

Congratulations to all!

Mrs. Thibeault's Probability and Statistics Projects

Mrs. Thibeault's Probability and Statistics students played student-created games. Learning was demonstrated by the students who had to understand the concepts to create the game, and by the students who had to understand the concepts to be successful as they played the game.

This is a great demonstration of creativity in assessment!

Senior Class Celebration

On Thursday, June 6, the senior class celebrated the end of their high school experiences with a food truck and fun activities.

Congratulations to the senior class!
