Alvirne Celebrations

This weekend, the Alvirne community demonstrated our four core values of Character, Curiosity, Commitment, and Community by participating in several activities that I am happy to share.

Alvirne Penguin Plungers (staff, students, and community member) raised just over $19,000 for the NH Special Olympics and Alvirne Unified Programs.

Music Department - Alvirne musicians participated in the Jazz All State Music Festival at Pinkerton Academy. Percussionists participated in a festival in Londonderry.

Art Department - Alvirne artists had several pieces of art on display at the Scholastic Art Awards of New Hampshire at Pinkerton High School.

Athletic Department - Alvirne students participated in the state swim and dive championship, state indoor track championship, wrestling tournaments, basketball games, and hockey games.

For more information, including pictures and videos from these events, please visit the Alvirne High School Facebook Page.

Strategic Planning Committee Community Forum

There is another Strategic Planning Committee Community Forum being held on Wednesday, February 14 at 9:00 am at the Rogers Memorial Library. The district would appreciate community input in developing the next five-year strategic plan. We hope you are able to attend.

Student/Family Handbook Highlight

This week’s student/family handbook highlight ties into Alvirne High School’s social and civic competencies of work together, do the right thing, and get involved. Alvirne staff have been collaborating about challenging student behavior trends. These have included significant tardiness to school and class, challenging cell phone use causing distraction during class time, and large group bathroom gatherings with several students vaping and eating in the bathrooms. We will work collaboratively as a staff, with students, and need family support to return our focus to teaching and learning in the coming weeks and following vacation. For more information on our social and civic competencies, please visit the student and family handbook, and click on “Alvirne High School’s Core Values and Beliefs.”

Enjoy the week!
