Air Force Junior ROTC Unit Evaluation

Our Air Force Junior ROTC program underwent a formal Unit Evaluation on Wed, 12/4. The purpose of this evaluation is to provide feedback on unit performance and assess compliance with Public Law and the written agreement between the Hudson School District and the Air Force.

The unit earned an overall “meets” standards, and the evaluator highlighted several areas where cadets “exceeded” standards including cadet uniform & grooming standards. We want to thank all parents, guardians, and family members for supporting our cadets during this busy period.

Several cadets were recognized as Top Performer award recipients – Senior Ava Hewitt, Sophomore Liam Rozier, and Sophomore Jameson Hewitt. These cadets played key roles in preparing & leading others, both before & during the Unit Evaluation. We are tremendously proud of their accomplishments.

The cadet leadership team will provide more details at the 12/16 Hudson School Board meeting.

Senior Semester 2 Schdule Changes

When seniors apply to college, school counselors send a packet of supporting materials including the student's transcript, counselor letter of evaluation, school reports, teacher recommendations and the student's senior schedule. The senior schedule serves as a record of what the student anticipates completing by the time they graduate. However, when a senior requests a change in their semester two schedule, colleges may see students as revoking on their "promise" of what they agreed on taking their senior year. When a senior requests such a change, counselors encourage our seniors to contact every college they are applying to and communicate to the admissions counselors about why they are making a change in their schedule. For many colleges, this is a not a big deal, but for others, colleges may reevaluate a student acceptance based on this new information. I did have a student in years past who applied to local university as a business major, and when he tried to drop Accounting second semester senior year and request an early dismissal, the university said "No". This is important information for families and teachers to understand while supporting seniors in planning for their futures. Stay tuned for more insight on the college application process. ~ Scott Jaquith, Director of School Counseling
