Student Behavior and Accountability

This message will be the first of several family communications that will address student behavior and accountability. Alvirne staff have been collaborating on issues that are making educating students difficult, and on Friday, Mr. Beals made an announcement to students and staff regarding cell phone use, tardiness, and bathroom availability before and after school.

Cell phones are only allowed in the hallways between classes and in the cafeteria. Cell phones are not allowed in classes unless there is an educational activity that requires their usage and has been approved by the classroom teacher.

Student tardiness to school and to classes has become unacceptable. Of students who do not take the bus to school, 50% of students are driven to school by families and 50% of students drive themselves. Many times students come to school tardy with coffee. Tardiness is disruptive to the learning process for all students including those students who arrive at school on time. Students must arrive at school and to classes on time.

Group bathrooms will be closed before and after school because of the inability to adequately supervise students in these locations. Students have been using the group bathrooms for large gatherings, vaping, and eating. The  decision to close these bathrooms during the designated times has been made to ensure student safety.

Immediate consequences will be administered to any student violating the above rules. Please communicate the importance of following school rules with your students.
