Academic Support Center

We are happy to announce that starting the week of October 23, the Academic Support Center will undergo a transformation. We will be staffing the Academic Support Center with humanities tutors in addition to the math tutors who are already providing support. We are pleased to welcome retired staff members who are also certified in English, Sue Bureau, and Sara Conrad, as well as a new staff member who is certified in Social Studies. Although teachers will recommend (and sometimes schedule) struggling students to attend Academic Support, our hope is that families will also encourage their students to advocate for themselves and seek out assistance before they are identified by their teachers. The sooner students seek assistance for areas of weakness, the more successful they will be.

Trustee-sponsored school day event

0n Thursday, October 26, there will be a trustee-sponsored school day event that we are very grateful for! The presentation to students will be given by an individual who hiked Mount Everest and will focus on goal setting, teamwork, collaboration, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Following the presentation, please ask your student how this presentation helped them to reflect on their educational experiences.

Student/Family Handbook Highlight

Please recognize that everything we do at Alvirne High School ties into our Vision and Mission, our Core Values and Beliefs, and the Hudson School District’s Portrait of a Graduate. To learn more about what drives the curriculum at Alvirne High School, please refer to pages 2-4 of the student/family handbook.

Enjoy the week!
