Winter 2023-24 Information
Requirements for Participation and tryout/practice schedules listed below:
Physicals: A reminder to all incoming freshmen and juniors, you will need a physical before try-outs to be able to start. Also, anyone who hasn't previously played a sport. A physical can’t be older than a year. Convenient Med is an option if you are unable to see your primary doctor.
Athletic Policy Meeting: December 5, 2023 at 6:30pm in the large cafe
Academic Eligibility: Academic eligibility- Academic eligibility is determined by first quarter grades. Second quarter grades in January will determine if an athlete remains on the team. An athlete must have an overall grade of a C- (1.7 GPA) or better in the first marking period. No student who has failed to pass in four units of work during the previous grading quarter shall represent the school in any interscholastic contest. A minimum course load of five units per grading quarter is required for participation. - A waiver process for academic eligibility must be filed with the athletic office in a timely fashion. A waiver may be granted under extenuating personal or educational circumstances. Please contact the athletic office with further questions.
Health Insurance - All student athletes must be enrolled in a health insurance plan to participate on an athletic team. If an athlete does not have health insurance, the athletic director must be notified immediately so arrangements can be made for coverage during school sponsored athletic events.
5. Family ID- Family ID is a secure registration platform that provides you with an easy, user-friendly way to register for our programs, and helps us to be more administratively efficient and environmentally responsible. When you register through FamilyID, the system keeps track of your information in your Family ID profile, so you enter your information only once for multiple uses, multiple family members and multiple programs. Please do not try to use your phone to enter information.

Girls’ Basketball
November 27, Monday
All girls from 2:30-4:30. At the end of this session, girls will be told which session to go to on Tuesday. Please be prepared for either 2:30-4pm or 4-5:30pm.
November 28, Tuesday
Session 1: 2:30-4:00pm, Session 2: 4:00-5:30pm. At the end of this session, the jv and varsity team will be selected.
November 29, Wednesday
Junior varsity practice: 2:30-4:00pm, Varsity practice: 4:00-5:30pm
November 30, Thursday
Junior varsity practice: 2:30-4:00pm, varsity practice 7:00-8:30pm
December 1, Friday
Junior varsity practice: 2:30-4:00pm, varsity practice 4:00-5:30
December 2, Saturday
Varsity at Nashua South for a jamboree
Remaining schedule will be handed out during the first week.
Boys basketball
Monday, November 27
Freshmen tryouts: 4:30-6:00pm, Upperclassmen tryouts: 6:00-8:00pm
Tuesday, November 28
Freshmen tryouts: 5:30-7:00. Cuts will be made after the tryout. Upperclassmen tryouts: 7:00-8:30. Cuts will be made after the tryout.
Wednesday, November 29
Freshmen tryouts: 5:30-7:00pm. Last cut will be made. Upperclassmen tryouts: 7:00-8:30pm. Final cut will be made.
Thursday, November 30
Freshmen practice at the community center from 2:30-4:30. the school will provide transportation to the community center however, Parents should pick players up at the community center in town. Moving forward practice will be at the Community Center.
Jv practice: 5:30-7:00pm, Varsity practice: 4:00-5:30pm
Friday, December 1
Freshmen practice: 2:20-4:30 at Community center
JV practice: 5:30-7:00pm, Varsity practice 7:00-8:30pm
Saturday, December 2
Varsity is at a jamboree at Londonderry HS. Playing at 12:30
Boys’ and girls’ Indoor track
Monday, November 27- Friday, December 1- practices will begin and continue during each week. Meets are typically on Saturdays. Athletes should be prepared to run inside as well as outside ( sweats, hats, gloves)
Wrestling

Practices are from 2:50-5:00pm
Swimming/Diving
Swimming/diving has already begun. If interested, please email cvurgaropulos@sau81.org for more information. Practices are at the Salem Workout Club on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 3-4:30pm. The school provides transportation to practice but families must pick their swimmer up at the Salem workout club.
Ice Hockey
Practice begins on Monday, November 27 at Skate 3 in Tyngsboro, MA. Players are responsible for getting themselves to and from Skate 3.

Tryouts begin on Monday, November 27 from 3:15-5:45pm in the ROTC fitness room, the second tryout date is Wednesday, November 29 from 3:00-5:30pm, a parent meeting will be held at 5:45pm on Wednesday.
The remaining schedule will be handed out on Wednesday.
