Winter 2024-2025 Information
Requirements for Participation and tryout/practice schedules listed below:
Physicals: A reminder to all incoming freshmen and juniors, you will need a physical before try-outs to be able to start. Also, anyone who hasn't previously played a sport. A physical can’t be older than a year. Convenient Med is an option if you are unable to see your primary doctor.
Athletic Policy Meeting: December 10, 2024 at 6:30pm in the small cafe
Academic Eligibility: Academic eligibility- Academic eligibility is determined by first quarter grades. Second quarter grades in January will determine if an athlete remains on the team. An athlete must have an overall grade of a C- (1.7 GPA) or better in the first marking period. No student who has failed to pass in four units of work during the previous grading quarter shall represent the school in any interscholastic contest. A minimum course load of five units per grading quarter is required for participation. - A waiver process for academic eligibility must be filed with the athletic office in a timely fashion. A waiver may be granted under extenuating personal or educational circumstances. Please contact the athletic office with further questions.
Health Insurance - All student athletes must be enrolled in a health insurance plan to participate on an athletic team. If an athlete does not have health insurance, the athletic director must be notified immediately so arrangements can be made for coverage during school sponsored athletic events.

Family ID/ Arbiter- Family ID is a secure registration platform that provides you with an easy, user-friendly way to register for our programs, and helps us to be more administratively efficient and environmentally responsible. When you register through FamilyID, the system keeps track of your information in your Family ID profile, so you enter your information only once for multiple uses, multiple family members and multiple programs. Please do not try to use your phone to enter information.

TRYOUT/PRACTICE INFORMATION
November 18 will be the first day of swim
Swimming/diving starts November 19. If interested, please email cvurgaropulos@sau81.org for more information. Practices are at the Salem Workout Club on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 3-4:30pm. The school provides transportation to practice but families must pick their swimmer up at the Salem workout club.
November 18 is the start date for wrestling
November 25 will be the first day of gymnastic
December 2 will be the first day of tryouts/practices for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls indoor track, ice hockey, winter cheer
Girls’ Basketball
Monday, December 2 and Tuesday, December 3
Tryouts will be from 5:00-7:00pm. Please arrive 20 minutes early to stretch and warm up. Please bring basketball shoes and a water bottle. Teams will be selected at the conclusion of Tuesday’s tryout.
Wednesday, December 4
JV practice is 2:30-4:00 and varsity is 5:30-7:00pm
Thursday, December 5
JV and Varsity scrimmage vs. Tyngsborough HS at 6pm
Friday, December 6
JV practice is 2:30-4:00 and varsity is 4:00-5:30pm
Saturday, December 7
JV is off for the weekend. Varsity is at a jamboree at Nashua. Schedule will be handed out earlier in the week. Along with the remaining practice schedule for December.
Boys’ Basketball
Monday, December 2 and Tuesday, December 3
Freshmen tryouts will be from 2:30-3:30 both days. Please arrive at the gym immediately after school. Please bring basketball shoes and water bottles.
Upperclassmen tryouts will be from 3:30-5:00 both days. Please arrive 20 minutes early to stretch and warm up. Please bring basketball shoes and water bottle.
Teams will be selected at the conclusion of Tuesday’s tryouts.
Wednesday, December 4
Freshmen-2:30-4:00 at Alvirne.
JV will be from 4:00-5:30pm
Varsity will scrimmage at Campbell HS at 5:30. Bus at 4:45pm
Thursday, December 5
Freshmen- 2:30-4:30 at Hudson Community Center. Team will be transported to community center but parents will pick up at community center.
JV-practice from 2:30-4:00
Varsity practice from 4:00-5:30
Friday, December 6
Freshmen- 2:30-4:30 at Hudson Community Center. Team will be transported to community center but parents will pick up at community center.
JV scrimmage at Spaulding at 4pm. Bus at 2:15.

Saturday, December 6
All teams are off.
Sunday, December 7
Varsity only scrimmage at Alvirne at 11am.
Schedule for December will be shared with teams upon selection of teams.
Boys and Girls Indoor Track
Practices will begin on Tuesday, December 3. Practices will be from 2:30-4:30pm, Tuesday through Friday. Athletes should be prepared to practice outside ( hats, gloves, sweatshirt and bottoms) as well as practicing inside.
Wrestling
Wrestling has already started. Practice on Wednesday, November 27 is from 12:45-3:00pm.
Practices are normally from 2:45-5:00pm. Monday through Friday.

Winter Cheer
Tuesday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 4 tryouts are from 7:00-9:00pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early to be ready to roll out mats.
Thursday, December 5
Practice will be in the large café from 5:00-7:00pm.
Sunday, December 8 parent/athlete meeting in the large café from 6:00-7:00pm
Coed Swim and Dive
Swim and Dive has already started but it isn’t too late to join. Coaches will teach you how to swim or dive! Practices are at Salem Workout Club on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 3:00-4:30pm. Transportation is provided to Salem however families are responsible for picking athletes up in Salem. Cost is $250 for pool time.
