Pumpkin Smash Event

Pumpkin Smash Event

Pumpkin Smash Event

Hosted by the Hudson Sustainability Advisory Committee

When: Saturday, November 8th from 2pm-3:30pm

Where: Alvirne Community Garden located at Alvirne High School

The Sustainability Advisory Committee will be hosting the first of what we hope will become a fun annual event for families to look forward to the Saturday after Halloween.

Parking will be in the upper lot of the CTE center (outside the entrance to the Café).

Families will then walk down the gravel path/road with their pumpkins to where the Black Earth Carnival Truck will be parked.

Families can enjoy smashing their pumpkins by tossing them into the back of the truck while trying to hit artwork on slats of wood standing up along the top edge of the truck bed.

How often are children invited to make a mess? Ultimately the smashed pumpkins in the truck will be professionally composted by Black Earth. The pieces on the ground will be tilled into the soil of the Alvirne Community Garden to naturally compost over the winter.

We hope you will join us!
