FIRST GRADE APRIL NEWS

News from the principal

The first-grade students at Dr. H.O. Smith School have had a spectacular April. Children enjoyed Special Friend’s Day with their class during the first week in April.  Children performed a musical with the theme of “In the Wild and Wonderful Outdoors”.  The PTO provided snacks after the show and a photo for a memento.  The children were so proud as they showed their Special Friend(s) their classroom, where they sit every day and what they have done during this school year.  Such a fun event for all! Thank you to the PTO members for hosting this event and the music teacher, Miss Holder, our custodian Mr. Treadwell and all the many parents and volunteers that helped make this day so memorable for our students.

Here a chick, there a chick……Students learned about life cycles by placing fertilized chicken eggs in classroom incubators until they hatched.  There were many sweet and fuzzy little chicks at HOS. All these adorable little chicks now have wonderful homes.

During the week of April 17th, the students will have an opportunity to attend the bookfair at Library Street School with their classroom.  Flyers have gone home with each student.

On April 18th, Geskus Photography Studio will be taking complimentary photos of each classroom. If you are interested in paying for an individual spring photo, please fill out the form that was previously sent home or you may order online.

We are looking forward to the Month of May for a field trip to the Discovery Museum and Step-Up Day.  Please watch for more up and coming information regarding these events.

Remember April 24th – April 28th is spring break. Enjoy your time off.
