Coronavirus Update - March 3

UPDATE - MARCH 3, 2020

We have been closely monitoring developments with COVID-19. Several staff members just participated in a webinar with the NH Department of Health & Human Services.

The risk of contracting COVID-19 is considered low. We all can actively help prevent the spread of this virus and other respiratory illnesses through good handwashing practices and staying home when sick.

Hudson School District Response
*Work with maintenance and food service departments to be vigilant in our sanitation practices
*Instruct staff and students to follow good handwashing practices and to stay home when sick
*Share information with families, as available
*Closely monitor the situation and follow guidelines from NH Health & Human Services and the Center for Disease Control
General Precautions for Everyone to Follow
The following precautions are recommended to help prevent the spread of all respiratory illnesses:
*Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and to avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
*Stay home and avoid public places when sick (i.e., social distancing)
*Cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash or cough or sneeze into an elbow
*Routine surface cleaning of frequently touched surfaces and objects such as tables, door knobs, toys, desks and computer keyboards with regular household cleaning sprays or wipes
Specific Recommendations for Those Who Have Traveled – Out of Country
*Anyone presenting with mild respiratory illness within 14 days of travel - stay home until symptoms resolve; stay away from public places and if symptoms worsen, contact health care provider
*Asymptomatic travelers from China - stay home and avoid public places for 14 days; self-monitor for symptoms; contact NH DPHS - 603-271-4496
*Asymptomatic travelers from countries identified with COVID-19 community transmission other than China (i.e., those with travel advisories) - monitor for fever or respiratory symptoms; if symptoms develop, take temperature and contact healthcare provider or NH DPHS - 603-271-4496

We will continue to monitor in partnership with the NH Department of Heath & Human Services and the Center for Disease Control. If you have any questions, please contact me at lrussell@sau81.org.
