In developing COVID-19 mitigation protocols and practices, the Hudson School District seeks to balance the physical safety of our school community while also recognizing the important benefits of in-person school for all students.


These guidelines will be updated throughout the school year.

School

Students preschool through grade 12 will follow the typical school year calendar.

Remote Learning Option

Cleaning

All high touch surfaces, including doorknobs, handrails, desks, etc., will be cleaned frequently.

Hand Hygiene

Hand sanitizer stations are wall mounted outside every classroom and frequent handwashing will be done whenever possible.

Social Distancing

Distancing of 3 feet will be continued when possible – note that will not always be feasible.

Self-Screening & Attendance

Anyone entering Hudson schools is urged to self-assess for symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone with new symptoms may not enter the building and should seek testing, even with mild symptoms. Details are available on the district website: COVID-19 School Attendance Protocols.

COVID-19 Positives

Individuals that test positive for COVID-19 are required to stay home. COVID positive individuals may return to school after at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first started AND at least 24 hours since a fever and improving symptoms.


All COVID positive individuals will receive the NH DHHS Isolation Guide.

Close Contacts at School

Students and staff that are identified as close contacts of a COVID-positive individual at school will be notified by the school and provided guidance to monitor their symptoms.


Close contacts (non-household) no longer need to quarantine.

Close Contacts Outside School

Individuals with a COVID positive household member must stay home 10 days from last contact if they are unvaccinated and follow the NH DHHS Self-Quarantine Guide for Unvaccinated Household Contacts


Vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine but they must follow the NH DHHS Self-Observation Guide for People Exposed to COVID-19.


“Household contacts” includes any individual who lives and sleeps in the same indoor shared space, including temporary situations such as sleepovers, shared camp cabins and vacation rentals.

Close Contact - Definitions

  • *If face masks are not correctly used – within 6’ for cumulative 15 minutes within a 24-hour period

    * If face masks ARE used correctly used – within 3’ for cumulative 15 minutes within a 24-hour period

    * Entire classroom, if students are allowed to interact in close contact in an uncontrolled fashion

    * Persons part of a team or group that interacted with a person with COVID-19 during indoor recess or physical education during close or direct contact

    * Any person in the same room as a person with COVID-19 while they are singing or playing a wind instrument

    * Any person participating in indoor close contact sports on ANY close contact sports (indoors or outdoors) with a person with COVID-19

Contact Tracing

In the event of a COVID positive individual, the school district will conduct contact tracing and notify close contacts. The district will continue to report positive cases to NH DHHS. DHHS may assist in contact tracing if there is a cluster or outbreak of cases. 

Quarantine

Individuals who travel internationally or by cruise ship may be asked to quarantine based on DHHS travel guidance. People do not have to quarantine who are 14 days or more beyond completion of COVID-vaccination OR within 90 days of a prior SAR-CoV-2 infection.


Household contacts of a COVID positive individual that are unvaccinated must follow NH DHHS Self-Quarantine Guide for Unvaccinated Household Contacts.

Buses

Face masks are required to be worn on school buses and other forms of public transportation under the federal CDC order.

Guidance for masks will be driven by local cases and access to vaccinations.


Students under 12 are required to wear masks


Individuals 12 and over

Hudson cases (0-19) – masks optional

Hudson cases (20-49) – masks recommended

Hudson cases (50+) – masks required


This guidance will be constantly evaluated based on local conditions. Staff and families will be directly notified of any change in status.

Clusters

Multiple cases comprising at least 10% of people in a specific core group OR at least three within a specific core group with symptoms onset or positive test within 14 days of each other AND NO likely known link to a case outside of the school setting

Outbreaks

Multiple cases comprising at least 10% of people in a specific core group OR at least three within a specific core group meeting criteria for a probable or confirmed school associated COVID-19 case with symptoms onset or positive test within 14 days of each other; who were not identified as close contacts of each other in another setting AND epidemiologically linked in the school setting

Communication

The school district will directly contact individuals that have been identified as close contacts.


The district will have a dashboard on the sau81.org website with cases by building. A notification will be sent via email when the dashboard is live.
